Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering

Advanced Electromagnetic Materials and Structures

The group explores advanced electromagnetic structures – those with ultimately unusual and useful electromagnetic properties. The group is part of the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, Aalto University. Research interests span over a wide range of topics of electromagnetic theory and applications and comprise metamaterials and metasurfaces, including nanostructured metamaterials and metasurfaces, plasmonics, graphene, all-dielectric nanophotonics, scattering and diffraction. Main application areas of interest include antennas for all frequency ranges (from nanoantennas operating in the hundreds of THz to radiofrequency coils for magnetic resonance imaging operating at MHz), wireless power transfer, solar cells, thermophotovoltaic generators and some other areas of applied nanophotonics. The group is located in the TUAS-building.
