We are now looking for a

Head of Investments

Aalto University’s Head of Investments manages the university’s significant investment portfolio as well as a team of three experienced portfolio managers. In this position you will have a chance to make an impact by ensuring the university’s sustainable funding. Join us in shaping the future!

Your role and goals

The tasks of the Head of Investments include:

  • Forming the University Endowment Strategy for Board of Trustees’ approval. Management of the endowment portfolio according to the strategy, enabling stable spending in support of the academic targets of the University.
  • Planning and implementing sufficient risk management, internal control practices and back- and middle office functions in the portfolio management.
  • Acting as the superior of the internal investment team of the university.
  • Overseeing external asset manager performance and compliance.
  • Reporting to the Board of Trustees on the portfolio performance.
  • Working under the guidance of the external advisory Investment Committee and Chief Financial Officer of the University

Your experience and ambitions

  • Master’s degree, preferably in finance or economics.
  • 10+ years of related experience typically gained with an institutional investor.
  • Understanding of the university and country operating environment.
  • Proven track record of successful portfolio management.
  • Proficiency in equity and alternative investments as well as fixed income.
  • High degree of integrity.
  • Strong communication and cooperation skills.
  • Excellent command of English, command of Finnish is an asset.
