Accreditations and rankings
AACSB –The first Nordic business school to have received it
The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation is known worldwide as the most highly esteemed form of accreditation an institution and its business programmes can earn.
Our AACSB accreditation certifies to current and potential students, employees, co-operation partners, companies and donors that Aalto as a university and the services provided by it are of a high international level. AACSB accreditation is granted to an entire institution and covers all education in economics and business administration provided by that institution. The Aalto University School of Business was awarded the AACSB accreditation as the first Nordic business school in 2007.
AMBA – only for MBA programmes of the highest quality
The MBA and EMBA programmes of the School of Business have been quality accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA). This gives students graduating from the programmes a better chance to succeed in the international job market.
AMBA accreditation pays special attention to the extensiveness of programmes, the balance of the content of studies and the business world work experience of students. Only a small number of highly advanced programmes have been granted AMBA accreditations. The MBA programme of the Aalto University School of Business received the AMBA accreditation for the first time in 1997. The EMBA programme received the accreditation in 2004. In 2007, the entire MBA portfolio of the school was AMBA accredited.
EQUIS – a European quality guarantee
EQUIS (the European Quality Improvement System) accreditation proves that the School of Business is an international school that fulfils European quality standards. The accreditation process examines areas such as the management system, the autonomy of decision-making, research, degree programmes and services. Special attention is paid to internationalisation and corporate relations. The School of Business has been EQUIS accredited since 1998.
Partnership in International Management
PIM, Partnership in International Management, is a consortium of leading international business schools, founded in 1973. Each member institution represents the highest degree of excellence in the fields of business administration and management, demonstrates leadership in their geographic region and delivers an MBA or a graduate-equivalent degree in management.
CEMS – Global Alliance in Management Education
CEMS Academic membership is offered to selected business schools and universities, one per country. Founded in 1988 CEMS unites leading universities and business schools, multinational companies, and non-profit organisations, jointly designing and delivering the top-ranked CEMS Master’s in International Management programme. Aalto University School of Business (previously Helsinki School of Economics) is proud to be the Finnish member school in the alliance since 1998. CEMS’ vision is to educate responsible leaders for a more open, sustainable and inclusive world.
Principles of Responsible Management (PRME)
The School of Business signed the principles of Responsible Management Education in 2008. The PRME are inspired by internationally accepted values such as the principles of the United Nations Global Compact. They seek to establish a process of continuous improvement among institutions of management education in order to develop a new generation of business leaders capable of managing the complex challenges faced by business and society in the 21st century.
