Esa Kallio is a Professor of space science and technology at Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering with interest in space plasma physics, numerical space plasma simulations and space instrumentation.
The research areas are space plasma environments near different Solar System objects (Mercury, Venus, the Earth, the Moon, Mars, comets, asteroids).
The research is strongly linked both to large international planetary missions and their space plasma instruments (Aspera-3/Mars Express; Aspera-4/Venus Express; ICA/RPC/Rosetta; Serena&Mephisto&Phebus/Bepi Colombo; PEP/JUICE) and to modern small satellites (Suomi 100 CubeSat).
