5G-tutkimus
5G Research @ Aalto -hankkeeseen kuuluu monitieteisiä tutkimusryhmiä Aalto-yliopiston eri laitoksilta ja korkeakouluista. Se tekee aktiivista yhteistyötä muiden yliopistojen ja yritysten kanssa kaikkialla maailmassa, esimerkiksi seuraavissa projekteissa: EU-projekti METIS, EIT ICT M2MRISE, EIT ICT 5GrEEn, EIT Digital ACTIVE-HII, Take-5G. Hanke on myös mukana monen tulevan projektin valmistelussa. Tällä verkkosivulla esitellään tutkimusryhmien toimintaa.

In C-RAN, the radio access network (RAN) functionality is moved to the cloud computing infrastructure. Remote radio units (RRU) of different cells are connected to the cloud via a high speed front-haul link, such as a fiber network.
A virtualized mobile LTE network together with the mobile backhaul deployed with the Software Defined Networks (SDN) would be able to provide the required elasticity to match available resources to the traffic demand.
