Otsikko: Measuring the functionality of the perirhinal cortex for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease

Abstract: The perirhinal cortex is the first structure affected by neurofibrillary tau pathology in very early Alzheimer's disease. This talk will focus on the cognitive functions associated with this structure and provides insights on recently established neuropsychological tests that are specifically designed to measure the functionality of the perirhinal cortex as diagnostic instruments for Alzheimer's disease.

Bio: Dr. Sabine Krumm received her PhD from the University of Basel, Switzerland, where she studied neuropsychological aspects related to very early Alzheimer's disease. Currently working at the Felix Platter Hospital, Basel, she focuses on searching for testable neuropsychological aspects and specific MRI measures that might enhance the earliest diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, and using these measures to enhance our understanding of specific aspects of memory functions. The main focus of her work is on the perirhinal cortex and its adjacent structures.

If you would like to meet with Sabine Krumm before the seminar, please contact Mia Liljeström at [email protected].
