Erasmus Staff Training Days at Aalto University is a two-day training for specialists (HR experts, pedagogical experts, teachers) 8.–9.6.2023.

Maximum number of participants: 35 (17 participants per theme – day 2). Max 2 participants per university. This training event is open for Aalto partner university faculty and staff. One-day participation is not possible.
Participation fee: 100€/participant/two-day event. Fee includes training, lunches, campus tour and dinner.
No participation fee for Aalto staff or for staff from Ukrainian partner universities.
Travel and accommodation are organised by participants.
The event will be in English.

Description of the day and themes/sessions:
Supporting and developing pedagogical skills/competences of teaching staff at Aalto University
Are topics like pedagogical development in Higher Education and applied educational technology close to your heart? Are you a programme manager, a teacher, a pedagogical specialist or a member of administrative staff who is interested in innovative solutions for teaching and learning? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this event is for you!
During this day, we will give you an overview of how Aalto University supports teachers and teaching development, starting with a welcome session and an introduction to Aalto's edtech support. You will hear about the best digital learning practices through teacher's testimonials followed by a visit to specialized learning spaces at our Otaniemi Campus. After a lunch break to socialize and refresh, we will have an afternoon dedicated to pedagogical development opportunities at Aalto.
Introduction to support services for teachers at Aalto University
The Teacher Services unit at Aalto University provides a wide range of services to support teaching staff in their day-to-day work, as well as their long-term career and competence development. Our service team has developed various models tailored to meet the specific needs of our teachers. This introductory session will provide you with an overview of our service offerings and will give you ideas for service development at your home institution.
Technology-assisted teaching and learning
Aalto provides several digital learning environments, a team of experts and well-equipped facilities that support both day-to-day teaching and the development of innovative and creative solutions, in continuous partnership with teachers. In this session, you will learn more about the edtech services provided at Aalto and participate in a dialogue with Aalto teachers about the courses and learning spaces they developed together with Aalto’s support services using 360° and VR solutions, scalable learning environments and more.
Pedagogical training and development
Aalto University Teacher Services offers pedagogical training to support developing pedagogical skills of faculty members. The pedagogical training offers a possibility to familiarize with teaching, learning and educational development at the university level.
Walk around Aalto teaching facilities
Combining digital educational technology with physical spaces opens wide opportunities for student-centered teaching. Aalto University’s diverse learning environments support flexible space use and new pedagogical possibilities. During this session the participants will be introduced to the new active classroom facilities at Aalto University. We will also look into the pedagogical models that promote active and blended learning in these learning spaces.
Theme II: Integration and inclusion of international staff (HR international Mobility team)
Location: Otakaari 1, Room U135a, PWC
This theme covers the following topics: onboarding of international staff and support for spouses and families; equality, diversity and inclusion issues at Aalto; experiences and best practices on teaching local languages to international experts and an update on Aalto language policy guidelines.
