Activating the access right to the token

The basic access right for the students are activated through the Bitwards Mobile ID or access token that will be used as the access key. To activate the token the student needs his Aalto ID, which acts as the user ID when logging in to the Aalto self-service portal idm.aalto.fi.

Notice! Access rights to CHEM premises require completing the CHEM work safety e-course. This course needs to be completed in the MyCourses system. The performance is automatically checked and approved by the system. As the system approves the course completion, the student will be granted access to the CHEM facilities, in addition to the basic access rights.

Adding access rights

A student that requires access to special zones must create a request in the Aalto self-service portal for these zones.

Log in to idm.aalto.fi and select “Start a new request” on the front page. Under the option “Physical access to Special zones” you will find a list of special zones.

If the special zone requires induction

The course author will check the performance. If the course author accepts, the acceptance will be integrated automatically.

  1. The student will complete the e-learning class in the MyCourses system. The self-service portal will guide the student to complete the correct e-learning class related to the selected special zone.
  2. The course author will check the performance. If the course author accepts, the acceptance will be integrated automatically.
  3. If the course author rejects the performance, MyCourses will send the student an automatic notification.

If the access right to the special zone does not require any e-learning courses or introductions

  1. The student requests access through the self-service portal idm.aalto.fi (necessary information: start date, duration and reason).
  2. The request is automatically transferred to the key responsible person. If the key responsible person accepts the access right request for the special zone, then the student will get an email from the self-service portal and the access right is automatically updated.
  3. If the access right to the special zone is defined in the course details, the access is automatically granted through course enrollment.
  4. If the request is denied by the key responsible person, also then the student is sent an automatic email notification.

Deactivating access rights

The end date of the right to study or the course recorded in Oodi will automatically deactivate the access rights.
