Three Baltikkari lollipops made of algae

Baltikkari is a response to the deteriorating situation of the Baltic Sea where we explore how eating seaweed could help revive it. By cultivating and collecting algae and seaweed we can remove accumulating nutrients from the sea and help with its eutrophication.

The goal of the project was to raise awareness and create dialogue of the Baltic Sea problems in a fun and engaging way, using food as our medium. We wanted to change the way we look at our local seaweed and the Baltic Sea, making it more approachable, so we decided to make candy.

Each of our lollipop flavors represents a Baltic Sea problem. The problems are narrated in a storybook, where each of the problems is characterized into three little monsters that are wreaking havoc on the Baltic Sea.
