Dirk Beerbaum was nominated as Executive in Residence at the Aalto University School of Business at the department of accounting in 2018. His research interest areas are Digitalization in Accounting, Taxonomy Engineering, XBRL, Digital Nudging, Corporate Governance Reporting, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Agile Management and Blockchain. In addition, Dirk teaches undergraduate students at the Bachelors' Accounting course and master students at the Master of Finance and Accounting Program at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He can look back on 20 years practical experience in Investment Banking, Retail Banking and Asset Management.
Dirk Beerbaum (born 1974) received his DBA from the University of Surrey in 2016. In his dissertation Dirk examined the impact of the transparency technology XBRL on Corporate Governance Reporting and developed a Taxonomy applying a mixed-method approach. After his sucessful dissertation Dirk was nominated to be a member of the IFRS Taxonomy Consultative Group (ITCG) at the International Accounting Standard Boards in London. Just recently the European Security Market Authority (ESMA) nominated him for the Corporate Reporting Standing Committee (CRSC) with the mandate to work relating to the regulatory developments in the area of accounting and auditing, periodic financial reporting under the Transparency Directive, develop technical advice, guidance and standards, in the area of accounting, coordinating work on enforcement of compliance with IFRS. Dirk is open to new research ideas which also cross the borders between the disciplines and relate to the Digital Economy. He recently founded as Editor-in-Chief the Journal of Applied Research in the Digital Economy (www.journalofappliedresearch.com).
