Traces from the Anthropocene: Working with Soil, 2019 by Riikka Latva-Somppi

This project was carried out by artist-researchers of the Department of Design at the Aalto University in cooperation with soil contamination experts from the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE). Ceramic artists explored, analysed and processed the soil in the Venetian Lagoon area. The project was conducted during the Research Pavilion event in the context of the 2019 Venice Biennale. The project was a multidisciplinary research project that addresses the ecological consequences of human imprint on the geological environment through ceramic art.
