Practical Information
Temperature
Temperatures in Levi in March are below zero, with monthly average at -7 degrees Celsius, please check weather forecast before leaving. Warm clothes are necessary. There are sporting goods/clothing stores in the village to stock up if necessary.
Dresscode
(Outdoor) casual. If you look like you have just come from downhill skiing or planning to do a 20 km cross-country skiing journey, it will be cheered, not frowned upon.
Skiing
CNN Travel has listed Levi as one of the 11 best ski resorts for the holidays!
Levi offers possibilities for cross-country and downhill skiing (see more details below). We have included longer lunch breaks in the program to allow for free-format outdoor activities also during the day.
If you would like to maximize skiing time, you can bring ski boots in the conference center and leave skis outside so you are ready to go to the pistes or cross-country track straight from the session. Levi has beginner cross-country tracks near the slopes and beautiful wilderness skiing routes for intermediate skiers stretching any distances up to 43 kilometers. If you are interested in longer cross-country wilderness routes, please contact Elias Rantapuska ([email protected]) as these trips require a bit of scheduling and suitable equipment.
Bathing
If you plan to put yourself outside of your comfort zone by trying out ice-swimming (or ice-dipping to be more exact), bring a bathing suit and possibly slippers. There is also a spa in the village if you are planning to arrive early/leave later.
Conference Venue & Conference Hotels
The conference takes place at the Levi Summit Event Center (address: Tunturitie 205).
The conference has negotiated prices for conference participants available in two hotels: Hotel Panorama, located next to the conference venue, Levi Summit, and Break Sokos Hotel Levi located in the Levi village with an easy access to the conference venue via the Levi Express cabin lift. Please contact the organizers at [email protected] or [email protected] to receive instructions on how to book your accommodation using the conference prices.
Access to Levi Summit from Levi village
The conference venue, Levi Summit, can be accessed by the Levi Express Gondola cabin lift. The lift runs between 9:30 am and 9:00 pm between Zero Point in the centre of Levi and the upper station of the Front Slopes, right next to the congress centre Levi Summit and the hotel Levi Panorama. There is also a staircase leading from the village to Levi Summit.

Northern Lights
If you are in luck, you might get to see the northern lights during your visit. The season to see them lasts from October to April, although they are more frequent in the fall than in the winter time. The best chance to see the northern lights is when the sky is clear and dark, and there are no disturbing lights nearby.
There are also several companies that offer guided tours to see the northern lights. More information here: https://www.levi.fi/en/activities/arctic-wonders/northern-lights
Other Activities
Levi has a wide range of winter activities to offer, everything from reindeer sleigh rides to snowmobile safaris. The Visit Levi website is a great way to find all the activities on offer at Levi: https://www.levi.fi/en/activities
