What made you decide to start studying at Aalto?
I started studying at Aalto after a thorough research of the European master programme options that seemed interesting to me. I ended up choosing Aalto as the information about the programmes was detailed, the study plans were flexible and the university’s positive spirit and openness surpassed others.
How did you decide which programme to choose (earlier studies in high school / University)?
Having a Master’s in Engineering, I wanted to expand my horizons and improve my competitiveness at both a professional and an academic level. I chose Industrial Engineering and Management to help me achieve my goals and enrich my knowledge in business strategy.
What is the best thing in your programme?
The best thing in my programme has been the professional level of the teaching staff. Not only do the professors have vast knowledge of their subjects, but they also offer, through their courses, real-life projects in collaboration with local and multinational companies.
What has been the most intresting course or study project?
The most interesting course has been Marina Biniari’s course “Designing Adaptive and Creative Organizations”. The professor offered us both the opportunity to build an organization’s structure from scratch, and adapt it to a changing environment, as well as company projects on modern strategy design aspects.
Are you taking part in any student activities, if so please tell us a bit about them?
Unfortunately, the pandemic has put a stop to any chances for student activities. Before the pandemic, I had watched performances by Aalto’s artistic groups, in addition to Aalto Buckets’ basketball matches.
What do you want to do after you have graduated? Do you have a dream job?
After graduation I want to stay in Finland and start my career as a Data Scientist. Through Aalto and the IEM programme, I have been able to find a career path that combines my practical and analytical skills, incorporating both my Engineering and Strategy studies.
What tips would you give to students starting their studies?
To students starting their studies I would like to suggest proactiveness in their studies and participation in the Aalto community. Proactiveness will make planning and progressing through their time in Aalto a breeze and the Aalto community offers an array of diverse activities to enjoy in an interesting multicultural environment.
