At the fair, you will meet with several different organisations that can support you during your studies, and you will get information about other useful services.

Where
Learning Services of Aalto University is holding the Welcome Fair for all new students on Thursday, 1 September from 10.00 - 16.00 at the Väre lobby!
The fair will provide you with important information related to student life in Finland and the opportunity to get better acquainted with Aalto University and other organisations and services better.
In addition to the official program, you can enjoy the music played by Aalto DJ at Korkeakoulu Square or come and get your heart rate up by bouncing in the bouncy ("moonwalk") castle for a while!
The event will be photographed for Aalto University communications and marketing purposes. If you do not wish to be in the photos, please inform the photographer during the event.

Aava, the community section of Aalto University Student Union (AYY) brings together all Aalto students! We organise events, which are open to every Aalto student, including the Aalto Open Air outdoor festival, AYY's annual ball, the Aalto Afterparty organized in Dipoli, and the Aalto Amazing Race, a checkpoint crawl
Come to our stand to say hello, exchange your Aalto Afterparty ticket for a wristband, and have fun with our surprise activities!
Studies are demanding and there is also much more to life than studies! Aalto chaplains provide a place where any Aalto student can come in to talk things over, regardless of belief or background. Our work is grounded in presence, listening, and absolute confidentiality. We want to support the overall wellbeing of our students. Come and meet with us!

If you are staying in Finland for more than a year (regardless of your nationality), you are required to register your place of residence and your permanent municipality of residence in Finland at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV).
- In order to get a Finnish personal identity code (henkilötunnus in Finnish) if you have not yet received it from the Finnish Immigration Service or the Tax Office
- In order to mark a temporary or permanent address in the Finnish Population Information System
PLEASE NOTE! Regrettably, the DVV service at the Welcome Fair is now fully booked. If you didn't get an appointment at the fair, you should make an appointment directly at the International Registrations Service at DVV: https://dvv.fi/en/foreigner-registration
DVV Service point for foreign student registration is open from 10 to 16 at Väre (Q103, 1st floor) by appointment only! Follow these instructions if you wish to register at the fair:
1. Book an appointmentat https://secure.vihta.com/public-ng/aalto/#/reservation?service=DVVserv
One 10-minute appointment is enough and you can choose either DVV1, DVV2 or DVV3.
(Please note! The appointment will be at Q103 in Väre, not in Otakaari 1even though it might say Otakaari 1 in reservation)
2. Fill out the Form “The registration information of a foreigner” on the DVV website, print it out and sign it! http://dvv.fi/en/foreigner-registration
3. Come to the Service point at Q103, Väre on the appointed time. Please, be considerate of others and be on time! Provide the DVV with the following documents:
- If you are an EU citizen
- The filled registration form mentioned in section 2
- Passport or official identity card with a photograph
- Attendance letter / study certificate from Aalto University (Admission letter is NOT accepted!)
- If you want to be registered permanently (municipality of residence in Finland), you also need to have a proof of EU-citizen’s right of residence from the Finnish Immigration Service http://www.migri.fi/eu_registration
- If you are a non EU citizen
- The filled registration form mentioned in section 2
- Passport
- Residence permit if you have one
- Attendance letter / study certificate from Aalto University (Admission letter is NOT accepted!)
- In order to register permanently (municipality of residence in Finland), you must have a type A residence permit. Alternatively you can have a type B residence permit that is valid for at least 12 months and a study certificate valid for at least 2 years.
- If you only want to be registered temporarily and you already have a Finnish personal identity code, you don’t need to visit our office. You can make a notification of temporary change of address at the Post office.
Please note that DVV needs your complete address, also the apartment number, so check it before the appointment!

Hello Espoo Info offers foreign-language residents advice and help in all kinds of matters, such as:
- early childhood education
- studying and working
- social services and benefits
- health and well-being

Helping Hand is a low threshold peer-to-peer support group for ARTS students. It focusses on student life, and mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing done through conversations, information, support and companionship.
The meetings are held both virtually and in person every Tuesday and Thursday.
Hoas (The Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region) rents out, builds and maintains housing in the capital region for students who are studying full time at schools of secondary level or higher education. Since its foundation the aim has been to relieve the shortage of student housing in the capital area.
Welcome to Hoas point to talk about student housing and tenant activities in Otaniemi. On Hoas point you can meet a tenant activity coordinator from Hoas and
also the chairman of OtaHoas tenant committee."
The HSL (Helsinki Region Transport) pop-up service point is open on Tuesday 30 August, Wednesday 31 August, and Thursday 1 September from 11.00 to 16.30 at the main lobby of the Undergraduate Centre (Otakaari 1). At the service point, you can obtain or update a HSL card.
Please note, that at the service point you cannot top up your travel card, but that can be done at a ticket machine or sales point.
International House Helsinki (IHH) provides a wide range of information and public services to meet the needs of international newcomers.
We can provide you with general guidance and information about life in the Helsinki capital region and the services provided by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa. You can register your EU citizen's right of residence, get your personal identity code, register your municipality of residence and notify a change of address.
Our IHH service centre in Sörnäinen is also where you as an international newcomer can get your tax card, receive tax counselling, and get help in determining if you are eligible for social security and benefits. As an international, you can also register as a jobseeker at our service centre.
Come and meet Aalto IT Services at the fair! We can help you if you would like to know more about information security, virtual desktops, licenses, printing, IT class rooms, MFA, Aalto email etc.
Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, provides social security coverage for Finnish residents and many Finns living abroad through the different stages of their lives. Among the social security benefits offered by Kela are family benefits, health insurance, rehabilitation, basic unemployment security, basic social assistance, housing benefits, financial aid for students, disability benefits and basic pensions.
The Language Centre aims to provide students with such language and communication skills as will give a strong foundation for success in both studies and the world of work.

Study-related stress, anxiety, motivational problems and life circumstances may overshadow studies and your future plans. The study and career guidance psychologists can offer you individual and group guidance as well as workshops in order to make well-being in studies and in working life possible.
We can tell you the answers on how and where you as an Aalto student can go for student exchange or to do an internship abroad and how to finance your exchange or internship abroad.
At the Learning Centre stand, we provide you information about library services. We can help, when you need course books, and are happy to tell more about the library resources and services available to you. We are also giving away a limited batch of super cool Learning Centre overall patches. Come and meet the librarians!

You can drop by the Starting Point of Wellbeing without booking an appointment in advance if you need advice and guidance on matters related to your well-being and study ability. At the Starting Point of Wellbeing, you can meet with a study psychologist, guidance counsellor, Aalto chaplain or Finnish Student Health Service nurse. We are available daily both on campus and online. Come to the fair to hear more from us!
KvTMK is an international committee under the Teekkari (tech student) Section of the AYY student union. It consists of an international director and the students responsible for the international affairs of Aalto's technical student associations.
The main target of KvTMK and its members is to make it possible for the international students to get to know the student and "teekkari" culture at Aalto University, for example, by organising events. Any international or internationally minded student can get in touch with the committee members. Most of the committee events are open to all Aalto students!

Finnish Student Health Service, also known as the FSHS, is your support for your well-being and health.
FSHS Services are for those students who have enrolled as attending students at a Finnish university or university of applied sciences. FSHS offers general health care services, mental health care services and oral health care services. Before booking an appointment, call us or visit our SelfChat online service for an assessment of your need for treatment. The health care fee for students in higher education is paid to Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland. FSHS does not charge for appointments.
