The topic of October's Better Business – Better Society seminar is ‘How Can Entrepreneurship Enhance Quality of Life in an Aging Society? Challenges and Innovative Solutions’. The keynote speaker is our School’s Professor Ewald Kibler. The guest speakers at the seminar are Elisa Kitunen (Head of Movement at EEX), and Sandra Lounamaa (Co-founder and CEO of Gubbe). You can find more detailed introductions of the guest speakers below. At the beginning of the seminar, Timo Korkeamäki (Dean of Aalto University School of Business) gives the School's update.
The rapid aging of populations across large parts of the world is recognized as one of the significant societal challenges, inspiring a growing number of individuals to engage in entrepreneurship later in life. In this interactive seminar, Associate Professor Ewald Kibler will share key insights from his pioneering research on aging, entrepreneurship, and well-being. Joined by other experts, Prof. Kibler will discuss various aspects, including the influence of age on entrepreneurial entry decisions, the impact of late-career transitions to self-employment on the income and quality of life of ‘older’ individuals, and strategies for late-career entrepreneurs to manage age discrimination. Furthermore, Prof. Kibler will draw from his most current research to explore why and how late-career founders engage in different types of innovation activities compared to their early-career counterparts. He will also share recent insights regarding the influence of entrepreneurs' ‘subjective age’ on their entrepreneurial activities and personal well-being. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamic relationship between aging, entrepreneurship, and quality of life. Join us as we explore the evolving landscape of late-career entrepreneurship and its profound implications for individuals and societies alike.
