This workshop is targeted for education practitioners in Aalto University.
Drawing on the inspiration and support of the Aalto Online Learning initiative, the Bachelor’s Program in International Business (BScBA) at the Aalto Mikkeli Campus has conducted research into how it can benefit from blended teaching and learning while retaining its signature “high touch” classroom experience.
The unique nature of the Program (3-week modules taught by visiting faculty from around the world) requires an equally unique approach to combine pedagogy and educational technology to achieve the right “blend”. As the educational technology required for blended learning already exists at the Aalto Mikkeli Campus, the key to success is its use by the faculty. Thus, faculty development is central to accomplishing blended learning goals in Mikkeli.
The workshop's participants can expect to learn more about:
- Setting goals and defining outcomes for blended teaching and learning
- Conducting research to understand challenges to faculty adoption of blended teaching methods and educational technology
- Conducting a gap analysis between blended learning goals and desired outcomes
- Delivering the right faculty development blended teaching and learning resources to the right faculty at the right time and place
