Support for those suffering from the consequences of the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria
How the university can support staff and students in dealing with the crisis, and how you can help the victims of the earthquakes
As we all have heard, the earthquake in Turkey and Syria (February 6, 2023) has been causing tremendous loss. We are reaching towards those students in Aalto who might be affected by this and might need psychological support to deal with this. HR has been taking similar action reaching for Aalto-employees.
Aalto's student services’ psychologist group and the Aalto chaplains are organizing a crisis support-meeting (discussion event) to deal with the thoughts and feelings evoked by the earthquake and the crisis it has created. This meeting is for all those Aalto students who are affected by the crisis and would want to discuss together with others. The meeting is completely voluntary, and you can also join only to listen others, if you don’t feel like taking part in discussion.
This meeting is led by Aalto's study psychologists Sanni Saarimäki and Aalto-chaplain Anu Morikawa. The meeting will be held on campus Otakaari 1-building, room U264 (U-wing, 2nd floor), Tuesday 14th (14.2.2023) at 14.15-16.00. You don’t need to register in advance, but if you have any questions or wishes regarding to meeting, don’t hesitate to contact Sanni or Anu.
With kindness and compassion,
Aalto study psychologist Sanni Saarimäki ([email protected])
Aalto-chaplain Anu Morikawa ([email protected])
Also, if you would like to talk individually about your thoughts and feelings instead or addition to taking part in the meeting, don’t hesitate to contact following services for more support, in English or in Finnish. You can for example meet the Aalto study psychologists in Starting Point of Wellbeing, remotely from Monday to Friday at 10-11 to discuss where to get more support for your individual situation.
