New Service Heads at Research Services

Sanna-Maija Kiviranta has been appointed as Head of Pre-Award Services and Jukka Hyvönen has been appointed as Head of Post-Award Services. Both teams support Aalto University's researchers in research funding.

Jukka Hyvönen and Sanna-Maija Kiviranta

Sanna-Maija Kiviranta has been appointed as Head of Pre-Award Services as of 1 July 2019. She acts as the head of team of twelve Research Liaison Officers and Grant Writers. The Pre-Award team supports academic faculty in applying funding for research.

Sanna-Maija has worked six years at Aalto as Senior Research Liaison Officer. Previously she has worked at the University of Helsinki as Senior Advisor and researcher, and at the Academy of Finland as Science Advisor. In addition, she has acted as an expert evaluator for the EU Commission for several funding instruments.

Jukka Hyvönen has been appointed as Head of Post-Award Services as of 16 May 2019. He leads the team of eight Project Managers and Grant Advisors serving especially in the implementation of EU projects.

Previously Jukka has worked as Senior researcher and Team leader in innovation studies at VTT and in addition as Development manager on internationalization in Joensuu Science Park Ltd. and Business Joensuu. Jukka has also gained experience as an expert evaluator for the EU Commission.

Sanna-Maija and Jukka report to Head of Research Services Ella Bingham and Vice President (Research) Ossi Naukkarinen.
