Otto Scharmer is a Senior Lecturer at M.I.T. and founding chair of the Presencing Institute and the u-school for Transformation. He chairs the MIT IDEAS program for cross-sector innovation. He introduced the concept of “presencing”— learning from the emerging future — in his bestselling books Theory U and Presence (with Peter Senge and others). He is co-author of Leading from the Emerging Future, which outlines eight acupuncture points for transforming our economy from ego to eco. His most recent book, The Essentials of Theory U (2018), summarizes the core principles and applications of awareness-based systems change.
Jani Romanoff is a professor in marine technology and a Vice Dean of Education at the School of Engineering. He believes that wellbeing enables good results in all fields of life and that you can be successful without sacrificing your values. That is a source of sustainability in wellbeing.
Associate professor İdil Gaziulusoy is a sustainability scientist and design researcher with an interest in sustainable, equitable and resilient future systems. Her work is concerned with socio-technical and socio-ecological systems with a particular focus on cities and businesses.
Liisa Postareff leads a Finnish Academy research project focusing on the relations between higher education teachers’ teaching processes and wellbeing. She works as a leading research scientist at Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), where she leads the LearnWell research team focusing on higher education teaching, learning and academic wellbeing.

How to build your capacity through dialogue? How to attune yourself and others to making intangible human needs and capacities visible? This workshop is about practical ways to help you to support wellbeing and social transformation with others. The workshop is held by Kirsi Hakio and Maria Joutsenvirta.

The fulfilment of the Inner Development Goals requires a radical shift in individual and collective values and mindset. To accelerate social transformation, it is imperative to identify the most effective approaches in a rigorous and scalable way. In this session, we will introduce the Individual Development Goals (IDGs) and will share insights from practice and research on developing their foundations. We will also experience a meditative approach for the realization of IDGs. Finally, we will start a conversation on a collaborative agenda to nurture the shapers of our sustainable future.

What does a ‘safer space’ mean? Is it the same for everyone? In this workshop, we learn in practice how to negotiate a safer space that accounts for the special needs within your group or community. The workshop is held by Fon Krairiksh.
Fon Krairiksh is a DEI educator and PhD researcher who worked in the field of migrant integration in Finland for ten years before embarking on a PhD in sociolinguistics. Through her research, Fon aims to increase understanding of the strategies used for the inclusion of foreign students.
Join us in process drama in an open, tolerant and positive atmosphere. Together we use drama strategies for learning about our academic culture. In process drama the participants together create a fictional world where they act in different roles. Kindness is the key! The workshop is held by Dr. Viivi Virtanen, HAMK/Oasis of Radical Wellbeing, Aalto University.
Dr. Viivi Virtanen’s career includes both academic work and experience on embodied learning. She works as a research scientist at Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), where she participates in the LearnWell research team focusing on higher education teaching, learning and academic wellbeing.

Sean Ricks is tv-host and journalist. During his career he has worked as an investigative journalist and foreign correspondent. He has also made numerous documentaries.
Among his work as a journalist Sean hosts and facilitates a broad range of discussions. His style is down to Earth and straight to the point.
The short film Sonja - Compassion III premieres at the Green Minds, Healthy Hearts – Social Sustainability Symposium event. The film is about a student who receives an interesting internship offer but is faced with a difficult decision after learning that greenwashing is practiced at the internship company.
The short film is starred by the Jussi prize nominee Elsi Sloan. The film features many locations familiar to Aalto residents, and the filmmakers include several Aalto alumni, such as director Eero Tiilikainen. Compassion III is the final part of a trilogy depicting issues confronted by many students in Aalto and Finland. While the series is a professional short film production, it is utilized in coaching, teaching and training at Aalto.
Frank Martela, FT, is a researcher of the world of human experience and wellbeing and a university lecturer at Aalto University. His mission is to create new insights foe strengthening people's ability to live a good life. The Art of Living is a philosophical, thought-provoking introduction to humanity, happiness and a more meaningful life, and a part of the Aalto University curriculum. Its MOOC version is published at the Green Minds, Healthy Hearts symposium.
Professor Petri Suomala is vice president for education at Aalto University. He has a keen interest in student wellbeing and the Oasis of Radical Wellbeing reports directly to him. He is also chairperson of the board at Aalto Executive Education. Petri Suomala delivers the opening words of the Green Minds, Healthy Hearts symposium.
Merita Petäjä is Project Manager of strategy project Oasis of Radical Wellbeing at Aalto University. She has a career in psychology and organizational development. At Aalto project manager of the groundbreaking AllWell? Study Wellbeing Questionnaire in 2016-2020. She is an outspoken supporter of social sustainability and wants to be creating a positive spiral or wellbeing for all Aalto community members.
