Dr. Biaohua Chen is the Professor of Beijing University of Technology (BUT). In 2006, he received a National Outstanding Young Scientist Award. He was awarded a BS degree from Jiangxi Industrial University in 1984 and an MS from the Beijing Institute of Chemical Fiber Technology in 1990. From 1990-1993 he worked in the Shanghai Petrochemical Complex and subsequently received his PhD from the Beijing Petroleum University in 1996. From 1996-1998, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the department of Chemical Engineering in BUCT and has been a member of academic staff in that department since 1998. From July 2000 to January 2001 he was a visiting Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2002 he was supported by the Overseas Training for Department Heads and Key Research Personnel Plan of the Ministry of Education as a visiting Scholar at the University of Washington. In the past five years, he has published over 200 papers in international and domestic journals of which more than 120 have been indexed in the SCIE. He has received two National Scientific and Technological progress Prizes (Second Class), His main research interests are in environmental and energy catalysis, green chemistry, and separation processes & reactor technology in chemical engineering.
