Tu Xin

Xin Tu is a Professor (Chair of Plasma Catalysis) in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool. He received a PhD in Physics from CORIA CNRS UMR 6614 (Université de Rouen, France) and a PhD in Thermal Engineering from Zhejiang University (China) in 2007. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Centre for Surface Chemistry and Catalysis, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium), from 2008 to 2009, and then joined the University of Manchester (UK) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Chemistry in September 2009. He was appointed as a Lecturer in Technological Plasmas in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool in 2012.

His research mainly focuses on plasma chemistry and plasma catalysis for environmental clean-up and sustainable production of fuels and chemicals including gas cleaning, CO2 conversion, CH4 activation, hydrogen production, nitrogen fixation and biomass/plastics conversion. He has published over 180 peer-reviewed journal papers (H-index 59, >10000 citations), 7 book chapters, and holds 5 international patents. He has chaired 5 international conferences and has given over 70 invited talks at international conferences. He was the Editor of the book “Plasma Catalysis: Fundamentals and Applications” (Springer Nature, 2019). He led a group of 16 scientists to deliver the 2020 Plasma Catalysis Roadmap (published in J. Phys. D: Appl. Phys. 2020, 53, 443001, 51 pages).
