Master's thesis topics (login as Aalto user)
In practice, the thesis topic must be chosen from the master’s thesis topic list. Students and companies may get their topics accepted by sending a topic description to a supervisor who has free slots for the next calendar year.
Master's Thesis seminar
Student must give a presentation on the topic of his/her thesis in one of the program’s Master thesis seminars. The objectives of the seminar presentations are to share information and experiences of the topic to the other members of the academic community, and to obtain feedback from others.
Each presentation is 10 min and 5 min are reserved for feedback and discussion. The presentation should contain maximal 10 slides including a short overview of the topic, the research questions, the results and the answer to the research questions. An A2 poster (template) for public exhibition is required.
Required for the presentation:
The scientific part of the MSc thesis needs to be finalized, meaning that the research questions are already answered. Final writing and editing of thesis (including grammar and language check) can be done after the presentation.
The seminar 2024 seminar will take place on the following days:
- Seminar 1: Wednesday 7.2.2024 at 13.00-15.00
- Seminar 2: Friday 26.4.2024 at 9.00-11.00
- Seminar 3: Wednesday 19.6.2024 at 13.00-15.00
- Seminar 4: Wednesday 18.9.2024 at 13.00-15.00
- Seminar 5: Friday 13.12.2023 at 9.00-11.00
Contact your supervisor at least two weeks before in order to register to a thesis seminar. The supervisor will inform secretary Viivi Riihimäki who is in charge of the practical arrangements. In case that the participation of the Master's Thesis seminar is not possible (e.g. illness) a video presentation can be arranged as an alternative (after agreement with the supervisor and the programme director). The thesis needs to be finalized for submission and accepted by the supervisor. The video presentation and the poster will be on public display at least until the approval of the Master Thesis.
