Continuing studies in the Master's Programme in Life Science Technologies

Below you can find information about applying to the programme if you have a bachelor's degree in the field of technology, in the field of art and design, or in the field of business at Aalto, or if you have a bachelor's degree from another university.

Bachelor's degree in the field of technology at Aalto University

Depending on the major of the bachelor’s degree, students can continue their studies in Master’s programme in Life Science Technologies either directly, by completing the minor Bioinformaatioteknologia in their BSc degree, or by completing specific courses. Some majors require certain courses to be taken in the minor. You can find major-specific requirements in the below table.

NOTE! Students of the School of Engineering: The rules apply only for those whose study right has began 1.8.2016 or after. The rules apply also for students who have been accepted in year 2015 but for legal reasons have enrolled as non-attending for the first year and started their studies 1.8.2016. Students accepted in year 2015 and before, apply in master’s admissions.

Selecting the master’s programme and major

Students choose their master’s programme and major at the time of graduation by including their choice of master's programme in the graduation application in Sisu.

*Note! All the compulsory courses of the minor Bioinformaatioteknologia are taught in Spring. See the content and structure of the minor: Bioinformaatioteknologia.

Bachelor's degree in the field of art and design or in the field of business at Aalto University

Those having received their Bachelor's degree from Aalto University in other fields than in the field of technology, can apply to the programme in master's admission. Please see the application information page for application deadlines, online forms and general information.

Bachelor's degree in other Finnish or foreign university

If you have completed a BSc degree in some other Finnish or outside Finland, you can apply to this programme in master's admission. Please see the application information page for application deadlines, online forms and general information.

Changing your master’s programme in the School of Science

If you are a student of School of Science and want to change your master’s programme, first check whether you meet the criteria for starting studies in the programme. The criteria for transferring to the programme must be met in bachelor's degree.
