Challenge-based learning is used to bring work-life relevance to teaching and learning and is widely used at Aalto University. Challenges from companies, the public sector and society are integrated deeply into the teaching and learning through collaboration with real-life partners. Challenge-based learning is a call for action for students and partners to collaborate with current themes.
Each course's learning environment - whether physical or virtual - are designed purposefully. Virtual learning environments typically include platforms which are already familiar to students and widely used in work-life.
As part of the program, we offer an optional challenge-based team project alongside the lectures to deepen the learning experience.
During the project, the students understand the essentials of sustainable entrepreneurship, identify the target audiences, explore potential solutions to the key problems identified, leverage connections, and build a support network for their project plan. The students are encouraged to explore out-of-the-box thinking and incorporate a multidisciplinary approach to the project combining design, business and technology elements in the project deliverable.
All lectures are taught by experienced Aalto University faculty or industry specialist within their fields for the students to get a high-quality academic experience.
Every customised program has its dedicated Program Coordinator present with the student group during their stay to ensure that communication is flowing and that all students feel safe and get the most out of their stay.
