Personal Form-Finding by Kauri Rantala
For a while now, I've been fascinated by nature-inspired design. There's an undeniable beauty in the forms, patterns, and textures found in nature. I've been eager to embark on a project that captures and utilizes these aesthetics that resonate with me deeply.
To explore this concept, l began by sketching and using 3D modelling software to experiment with shapes that evoke my inspiration. After numerous iterations, I settled on creating a water jug, drawing from my visual experiments. I brought this concept to life by 3D printing the jug proto-type, then creating plaster moulds from it and casting the final product in porcelain.
