Aalto University Campus & Real Estate, better known as ACRE, maintains, develops, and leases out Aalto University premises. We develop the Otaniemi campus in phases in a financially, socially, and ecologically sustainable way. ACRE works as a developer of the entire campus, a promoter of multidisciplinary cooperation and an implementer of Aalto's campus plan.

Studies are demanding and there is also much more to life than studies! Aalto chaplains provide a place where any Aalto student can come in to talk things over, regardless of belief or background. In Demola, university students can take part in meaningful and challenging innovation projects. The topics range from challenges in sustainable development and business to shifts in society, working life, and the use of new tech.

This will be an 8-week crash course on innovation work, to build new contacts and gain a unique achievement to your resume.

If you are staying in Finland for more than a year (regardless of your nationality), you are required to register your place of residence and your permanent municipality of residence in Finland. You do this in the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV). You find updated information about the registration practicalities at DVV website. You start the process by filling in a digital form online.

Instead of reserving an appointment to DVV-office, you can complete the registration at Aalto Otaniemi campus. This is the "joint visit" alternative mentioned at DVV website. This is a convenient way for completing the registration and DVV recommends you to utilize this option. Nevertheless, it's essential that you have prepared the documentation carefully and that you are prepared to wait for your turn for some time.

Follow these steps when you register at Otaniemi campus on Wed 28th August or Thu 29th August 2024:

1. Complete the digital registration notice of a foreigner in advance at DVV website. (Instead of reserving an appointment to DVV-office, DVV recommends you to complete the registration at Aalto Otaniemi campus on Wednesday 28th or Thursday 29th August at 10.00-15.00. This is the "joint visit" alternative mentioned at DVV website.)
2. Find the DVV registration point at Undergraduate Center (Otakaari 1, room M102). Take your place in the queue by using the QR-code you find on on the wall. Wait for your turn. Follow your place in the queue on your mobile device and arrive to the registration point latest when you are 6th in line. While you wait for your turn, you can use your time for other activities. On Thu 29th August you can visit the exhibition booths of Aalto Welcome Fair.
3. Complete the registration in a brief meeting with the official. Registration runs smoothly when you have the necessary documentation at hand.

Please note the following things to make your registration process as smooth as possible:

• DVV needs your complete address, also the apartment number, so check it before the appointment.
• DVV can also issue a Finnish personal identity code for you if you haven’t already received one from the Finnish Immigration Service or the Finnish Tax Administration.
• DVV personnel can process a large number of registrations during these days, this is a convenient way for you to register and we recommend you to use this option. (If you have already reserved an appointment to DVV office, you may keep it and register at DVV office.)

HelsinkiMissio Crisis Services for Youth offers free short-term councelling and crisis help for youth and young adults between the ages 12 and 29, online or live at Kamppi.  You can speak freely to our crisis workers about whatever is troubling you. We aim to prevent young people from feeling all alone when they are in some difficulty. Come and meet us at the Welcome fair!

Hoas has more than 10 000 student apartments in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, and Kauniainen. Our properties are located in many different areas always close to schools or good public transportation. Hoas tenants have many services to make student’s life easier. Internet connection is free for everyone, and sauna and laundry are yours to book free of charge.

The HSL (Helsinki Region Transport) pop-up service point is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10.00 to 16.00 at the main lobby of the Undergraduate Centre (Otakaari 1). At the service point, you can obtain or update a HSL card.

Please note, that at the service point you cannot top up your travel card, but that can be done at a ticket machine or sales point.

International House Helsinki (IHH) provides a wide range of information and public services to meet the needs of international newcomers. We can provide you with general guidance and information about life in the Helsinki capital region and the services provided by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa. 

Our IHH service centre in Sörnäinen is also where you as an international newcomer can:

• register your EU citizen's right of residence.
• get your personal identity code.
• register your municipality of residence and notify a change of address.
• get your tax card and receive tax counselling.
• get help in determining if you are eligible for social security and benefits.
• register as a jobseeker.

The International Committee, also known as KvTMK, is a volunteer-based committee under AYY (Aalto University Student Union). It organizes free time activities for international students and anyone interested in internationalisation. Whether you're interested in open events in English or internationalisation in general, come and have a talk with us at the fair!

At the Kela booth students get to familiarize themselves with the benefits offered by Kela. They can be guided further into various service channels provided by Kela. Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, provides social security coverage for Finnish residents and many Finns living abroad through the different stages of their lives. Among the social security benefits offered by Kela are family benefits, health insurance, rehabilitation, basic unemployment security, basic social assistance, housing benefits, financial aid for students, disability benefits and basic pensions.

Kielibuusti is part of a national programme, Talent Boost, which aims to attract international talent and promote their immigration and integration in Finland. We provide flexible services online, by phone and during the service hours of our branches in Espoo, Helsinki, Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Karkkila, Kauniainen, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Lohja, Loviisa, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Porvoo, Sipoo, Siuntio, Tuusula, Vantaa and Vihti.

The Aalto psychologists guide and support you when you are feeling stuck with your studies or career prospects. Study-related stress, anxiety, motivational problems and life circumstances may overshadow studies and your future plans. The study and career guidance psychologists can offer you individual and group guidance as well as workshops in order to make well-being in studies and in working life possible.

Come visit us and learn more about student ambassador and campus guide activities at Aalto. We offer students opportunities to earn extra income, for example by giving a presentation on their studies at Aalto and/or presenting the campus to visiting student groups. 

• By giving a presentation on your studies at Aalto, you can earn up to 100 euros/presentation. 
• As a campus guide, you earn 40-50 euros/tour. 

Students from all fields of education and majors are welcome to participate in the activities! Please note that Finnish or Swedish skills are required to be able to participate in the training.

At the Learning Centre stand, we provide you information about library services. We can help, when you need course books, and are happy to tell more about the library resources and services available to you. We are also giving away a limited batch of super cool Learning Centre overall patches. Come and meet the librarians!

Sisu is Aalto's student information system, where students plan their studies and register for courses. You can come to the Sisu support stand to ask about using Sisu to create your study plan or register for courses, for example.

The Starting Point of Wellbeing offers students easy access to counselling and advice on matters of well-being and study ability. The services available to you include drop-in (no reservation) advising/counselling sessions, peer support groups, and online materials. You can also make an appointment to receive individual counselling. When you need help and advice, you can turn to Aalto’s study and career counselling psychologists, guidance counsellors, career coaches, Aalto chaplains, special education teacher, and the well-established network of professionals in the field of well-being. Finnish Student Health Service, also known as the FSHS, is your support for your well-being and health.

FSHS Services are for those students who have enrolled as attending students at a Finnish university or university of applied sciences. FSHS offers general health care services, mental health care services and oral health care services. Before booking an appointment, call us or visit our SelfChat online service for an assessment of your need for treatment. The health care fee for students in higher education is paid to Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland. FSHS does not charge for appointments.
