Alumni encounters from Seattle to Bangalore

Aalto University alumni live in more than 100 countries. Over the past year, we have met with our alumni in more than 10 cities around the world.
Alumni in Seattle 2024
Professor Laura Arpiainen hosted a gathering of Aalto alumni in March in Seattle.

During her March working trip, Professor of Health and Wellbeing Architecture Laura Arpiainen invited dozens of alumni to network and hear news from Aalto University in Vancouver in Canada and Seattle in United States. 

In June last year, the University's leadership met with alumni in Palo Alto and in September in New York and Boston. Alumni networking continues in the LinkedIn groups and get-togethers convened by the local alumni ambassadors. 

Radical Creatives film premier for alumni in New York 2024

The documentary Radical Creatives, directed by alum Emilia Hernesniemi, attracted an audience of about 100 people to the film's US premiere in New York in February. Aalto's management also met with alumni in Washington DC in February.

Alumni event in Bengaluru

'Good local alumni networks are crucial when marketing Aalto University to potential students around the world,' says Eeva Liinamo-Liukku, Senior Specialist in International Student Recruitment. 

On a working trip to India, Eeva met together with Kit Srinivasan, Senior Manager in Global Engagement, dozens of alumni at the embassy of Finland in New Delhi and at the Finland's consulate in Mumbai as well as in Hyderabad and Bangalore. Some of the alumni said they had been waiting to meet for over 20 years! 

Time Out opening 2024 Brussels

In April, we invited alumni to the Aalto Time Out! Rethinking Construction exhibition at The New European Bauhaus festival in Brussels. The local alumni network keeps in touch via a WhatsApp group and organises a meeting about once a month. In April, we also met with alumni in Riga, Latvia.

Alumni in Hamburg 2024

In May, dozens of our graduate and exchange students gathered for an evening out in Hamburg. In June, we met our alumni in Sweden at Almedalsveckan in Visby for the Swedish film premiere of Radical Creatives. In July, the film will be shown to our alumni at FinnFest in Duluth, USA and in August in Hamburg, Germany.

During the autumn, there will be more alumni get-togethers, for example in India and the UK.
