The competition proposals for the Otaniemen Tietokorttelit architecture competition are now available for public feedback
The Otaniemen Tietokorttelit architecture competition, organised by Senate Properties and Aalto University Campus and Real Estate, began in the summer of 2021. Architectural companies taking part in the competition are Anttinen Oiva Architects Ltd, Arkkitehtitoimisto HKP Oy, K2S Architects Ltd, Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects Ltd and L Architects Ltd. The aim of the competition is to solve the overall area plan of the area near Aalto University metro station, and the winning competition proposal will serve as the basis for the urban planning that will start after the competition. Soon, a significant part of the area's current activities will relocate and make room for a new living urban environment, where housing, jobs, services and university campus’ functions will be mixed.
The competition proposals are available at http://acre.aalto.fi/otaniementietokorttelit (in Finnish), where comments can also be posted by 25 February 2022. Feedback and comments on the proposals will be submitted to the competition jury as additional information. The winner of the competition will be selected during the spring of 2022. The competition is organized in co-operation with the City of Espoo and the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA).
