Self-assessment refers to the organisation’s assessment of its activities and their enhancement.
The Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC) has awarded Aalto University its Quality Label for Excellence in spring 2024. The Quality Label for Excellence can be granted only to a higher education institution audited by FINEEC in recognition of the exceptional quality in the development of its activities. The assessment is carried out by an evaluation panel appointed for this purpose.According to FINEEC, Aalto has demonstrated an innovative pioneering spirit, an approach that focuses on long-term enhancement, and a participatory operational culture. The university's societal and global responsibility and its strong future-led orientation impressed the evaluation panel.
Aalto University's quality system was audited by The Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC, Karvi). Aalto received the level ‘excellent’ from all evaluation areas. Aalto received special praise from the audit team for the systematic use of annual strategic processes in development of its core activities. Aalto’s strengths also include unique operational environmental analysis, strategic cross-cutting approaches and constant dialogue with internal and external stakeholders.
The audit assesses the appropriateness, functionality and effectiveness of the university's quality system. It focuses on the university's operating methods, the processes by which it pursues its own goals. Also central to auditing are the utilisation and effectiveness of follow-up information and feedback in the planning and development of operations.
