Study visit to Aalto University Junior
The workshops allow children and young adults to experiment, explore and get inspired, while offering them a sneak peek to the world of higher education. The workshops are given by Aalto students.
Action-oriented study visits are organised both on site on the Aalto University Otaniemi campus and online everywhere in Finland. Teachers can choose their preferred workshop implementation mode (on site or online).
- On-site study visits take place on campus at the Junior Lab, located at Kemistintie 1B. The Junior Lab is a discrimination-free zone, and our facilities are accessible. See map.
- Online visits are conducted in the teacher’s own classroom using the school’s equipment, while an Aalto Junior instructor leads the workshop online.
Unfortunately the descriptions of our workshops and our booking system are only available in Finnish for the time being. You can, however, request for any workshop to be held in Finnish, Swedish or English.

Booking a workshop
You can book a workshop through to the booking system on this page. The maximum number of participants in a workshop is about 30. If you have a larger group, please reserve two time slots. As some workshops involve using equipment with limited availability, please check the workshop description for details on the maximum number of participants. As an example, for each chemistry workshop, we have five fume hoods available, which is something to consider when making your booking.
The duration of the study visit depends on the duration of the selected workshop, specified in the workshop description. Each topic is offered on specific days. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer all workshops every day. As our workshops are very popular, we recommend that you book only one visit per school term for any given group (with the exception of large groups).
Cancelling your workshop booking
The availability of the study visits is limited, and at the moment, not everyone who is interested can secure a place in one. This is why it is important that you do not leave your booking unused. If you cancel at the last minute, the slot is likely to remain unused, as other groups wishing to visit Aalto Junior cannot make use of it.
If you must cancel, please cancel your visit as early as possible. You can also ask a colleague if they would like to attend the visit instead. If you transfer your booking to a colleague, please let us know by emailing to [email protected]. You can change the contents of the workshop within a given theme.
If you need to cancel your booking, you can do it either through the booking system or by emailing us at [email protected].
