Aaltonaut a Product Development Minor

Aaltonaut is a Bachelor’s minor program in product development. Established in 2013, Aaltonaut brings together students from all Aalto schools to tackle challenges related to product development. Aaltonaut courses are based on project work, problem-based learning, design thinking and learning by doing. Each course is built around a product development task, and designed to be interactive, educational and fun.

The long-term success of most companies relies on their ability to respond to market changes by developing new products and services. Students of product development learn to conceptualize, design, develop, and deploy new products for a wide range of industries, and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of experts towards a common goal. Aaltonaut courses combine engineering, design and business principles to give students the required skills and knowledge to work a wide range of positions. Students leave the program prepared to work with diverse groups of professionals in solving problems and in developing innovative solutions and products.
Bachelor’s students from all six schools of Aalto Aaltonaut courses are open to all Aalto students, regardless if you are taking the minor or not. There are no prerequisite courses for taking the minor or courses within the minor.
The program can be started during any year of your Bachelor’s studies, and consists of 20-25 credits depending on your school’s degree requirements.
Aaltonaut courses are taught in English.
