Robert Rahkonen, Controller
'I am responsible for the financial administration of three departments at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture. With my team, we manage financial services from accounts payable to long-term financial planning. I also provide financial perspective and guidance for the decision-making of the department, to support the heads of department and to ensure that the departments’ finances stay on a sustainable basis.
I applied for work at Aalto University because I was inspired by the university's special role in Finnish well-being and competitiveness, and I also wanted work experience outside the private sector.
The best thing about my work is how versatile it is. At Aalto, there is always something new going on, and it's great to be able to support the university's operations – be it a smaller student event or a research project spanning several years.’
