Research Infrastructures at ELE
Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering (ELE) conducts research and offers education in three sites – at Micronova, at Metsähovi radio observatory, and at Maarintie 8 building, where majority of our personnel is located.
Experimental work is the key for achievements in science. Our department is proud to offer state-of-the-art infrastructures that enable us to conduct internationally distinguished research.
Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering (ELE) conducts research and offers education in three sites – at Micronova, at Metsähovi radio observatory, and at Maarintie 8 building, where majority of our personnel is located.
Aalto Electronics-ICT is the research infrastructure located at Maarintie 8 building. Here our department conducts research on electromagnetics and material studies, electronic circuit design and microelectronics, radio science and engineering, and space science and technology.
Metsähovi Radio Observatory is the only astronomical radio observatory in Finland. The observatory is a separate institute of the Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering, where our department conducts research on radio astronomy.
Micronova is Finland's national research infrastructure for micro- and nanotechnology, jointly run by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Aalto University. Research in Micronova focuses on micro and nanotechnology, material and device physics, and optics.
Millimetre Wave Laboratory of Finland – MilliLab, established in 1995, is a joint laboratory between VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Aalto University. It is also a European Space Agency (ESA) External Laboratory on Millimetre Wave Technology.
