Magnetic impurities: a recipe for topological superconductivity

Kim Pöyhönen, M.Sc., will defend the dissertation "Engineering low-dimensional topological superconductivity in magnetic heterostructures" on 4 October 2018 at 12 noon at the Aalto University School of Science, lecture hall H304, Otakaari 1, Espoo. By theoretically considering the properties of heterostructures consisting of magnetic impurities on superconductors, the dissertation presents new possibilities in engineering and detecting topological superconductivity. These systems have a rich variety of topological phases and are hence interesting from the point of view of future experimental research.

Opponent: Professor Annica Black-Schaffer, Uppsala University, Sweden
