Discourse in Design – Installation 2021

The Discourse in Design class of 2021 is excited to present its final poster installation, which will be on view at the Väre Lobby from November 1 until November 12. (Note: Due to the restrictions, there will not be an official opening event.)

During the 6 week course, VCD MA students were introduced to contemporary theories and discussions within visual communication design. Special attention was paid to the nature of knowing and knowledge in different domains, and the notion of designerly and material knowledge. Relevant theories in other fields beyond design theory were also discussed, along with their potential contribution to design practice.

In addition to lectures and discussions in class, the course consisted of working in independent reading groups, where thematic course literature was explored through reading, writing, conversation, and the final assignment of abstract typographic poster design.
