Event language(s)
Presentation will discuss the current growth in research and implementation for urban underground planning worldwide and particularly in Singapore and Hong Kong where severe land shortages and high land prices are driving a government-supported effort to expand the usage of urban underground space. The presentation will also examine the potential contributions of urban underground space use to the sustainability and resiliency of cities but with the necessary cautions to treat the urban underground as a set of interlinked resources of physical space, mineral resources, groundwater, living environment and cultural heritage.
