Mandaworks is a progressive, Stockholm-based design studio “engaged in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and comprehensive planning”. Their design principles include emphasizing human experience and the local context, as well as employing a holistic perspective, among other things. In his presentation, Martin will draw examples of Mandaworks’ strong experience in planning in Nordic cities and share how they utilize narratives in their design process.

In 2017, Mandaworks won an open competition by City of Vantaa for its proposal for the future development of the airport area Aviapolis in Vantaa, Finland. The plan “Where the World Meets Finland” combines international influences and flows with locality, and takes into consideration both social and ecological aspects in order to create a sustainable, innovative and vibrant neighborhood at a gateway to the world.

Mandaworks' impressive work has also garnered many other acknowledgements. Their list of works is furthermore not limited to Nordic cities, but includes inspiring plans for destinations ranging from China through Germany and all the way to Canada.
