Information service and information skills training

The Library Services offer training in information retrieval skills to support learning, teaching and research activities. Our goal is to assist in the selection of information sources, facilitate information retrieval and assessment and offer tools for information management.

Information retrieval skills training

We have courses that are part of the degree programmes as well as separate sessions open to Aalto students and faculty.

Book an information skills instruction session

Aalto University students and staff can book a session for personal guidance in information skills with a Library Services specialist. We especially recommend this service for those conducting research at different stages of their studies.

The information skills guidance session aims to help with selecting information sources, making searching for and evaluating information easier, and/or to providing tools for information management. We’ll focus on the information skills goals that best serve your wishes and needs.

Book an appointment directly from MyStudies via the reservation form. The form is discoverable via the MyStudies banner “Services – Book an Appointment”, or directly from the link below:

Guides for self-study

Study information retrieval skills whenever you want:

Resource guides (libguides.aalto.fi)

The resource guides contain subject guides and research assistance; the essential information about information sources and advice compiled by Learning Centre’s specialists.

The aim of the information skills training is to assist in the selection of information sources, facilitate information retrieval and assessment and offer tools for information management. The best and most comprehensive information search results are often achieved in a personal consultation.
