Compassion mentoring pilot for Aalto’s doctoral students received positive feedback
The compassion-themed peer group mentoring for Aalto’s doctoral students was piloted in the autumn semester 2023 receiving very good feedback from the participants.
The groups are peer groups for doctoral students, where we meet in a comfortable atmosphere and learn about the opportunities and challenges of compassion and self-compassion together. We are also strengthening our collective capacity for a compassionate attitude and action.
The activities of the groups include joint discussions on topics related to compassion as well as exercises related to compassionate interaction and self-compassion, among other things. At the same time, the group allows you to get to know other students interested in the subject. The groups are guided by Aalto’s doctoral students who have been trained to the task.
Each group meets six times during the autumn semester. The meeting times are the same every week. The groups are held in English and they start running in the beginning of October.

The compassion mentoring model was originally developed in Nyyti ry's Compassion for Universities project and at Aalto, the activity is part of the services of the Aalto's Wellbeing Desk.
