Lecturer in Information and Communications Engineering
We are looking for candidates with a solid background in ICT, such as signal processing, communications engineering, computer networks, programming or how artificial intelligence will impact the development of the field.
Your role and goals
You will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses within the Information Technology BSc major. The major includes courses in various fields of information and communication (ICT) technology, including Introduction to Information Technology, Signals and Systems, and Fourier Analysis. In addition, the lecturer's duties include academic supervision of students and curriculum development. We expect you to take an active role in supervision of bachelor's theses and actively engage in the bachelor thesis seminar. The courses are designed and implemented in collaboration with the teaching faculty of the department, and can be tailored to align with your background and research interests. Over time, you will also have the opportunity to take responsibility for master’s level courses. We also expect you to engage actively in research and contribute to related activities within the department.
Environment
You will work closely with the teaching community of the Department of Information and Communication Engineering to develop and enhance teaching practices and courses. Depending on your background and research interests, there will be ample opportunities for collaboration with research groups within the department, which operate across diverse areas of ICT. The department hosts research groups in fields such as wireless communications, signal processing, communication networks and internet technologies, as well as speech, audio, and acoustics.
Your experience and ambitions
The Aalto lecturer career system consists of four levels and in this recruitment, you can be hired as a university teacher, a university lecturer, or a senior university lecturer, depending on your qualifications and experience.
We are seeking applicants with:

a doctoral degree and a proven track record of research in a relevant field

the ability to teach and write fluently in Finnish as the position includes teaching at the bachelor's level

excellent written and spoken English skills
-
strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with multiple stakeholders
A multidisciplinary background and a solid foundation in pedagogy are considered as strengths in this role. While outstanding research capabilities are important, practical skills – such as excellent organizational abilities or experience working in the industry – are equally significant.
For university lecturer and senior university lecturer positions, we expect experience in teaching university-level courses and curriculum development.
Language requirements
Good oral and written Finnish and English language skills are required for the position.
