The Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical engineering (NBE), belonging to the School of Science (Aalto University) focuses on biomedical engineering, biophysics, and brain research. We at NBE aim at understanding system-level dynamic functions of the human brain, mind, and body. Summer employees

The Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical engineering (NBE) is offering multiple summer employee positions for the summer 2025 in different research groups and topics.

The results of the summer employment can be reported, e.g., as a bachelor’s thesis or a special assignment. Some topics can be continued towards a master’s thesis.
Depending on the position, typically summer employment lasts 3 months during the summer months of June to August.

You can choose max 5 different research topics provided by different research groups. Please list them in the order of preference in the application form.

What we are looking for

We are looking for BSc or MSc degree students at Aalto or some other university to work with us. The summer employees are selected based on their academic merits, suitability of their studies, motivation, other relevant skills and interviews.
Since our research groups are highly international, good English skills are required.

What we offer

Selected summer employees will be supported by other summer employees, doctoral researchers and postdocs at the department throughout the entire employment.

A summer employment typically runs from the beginning of June until the end of August. A six-day vacation must be taken during the summer, preferably in July. The salary is 2090 €–2378 € per month depending on the level of education (undergraduate, BSc). Working hours are 36 h 15 minutes per week. We work in a hybrid way at the Aalto University. However, possible remote working days needs to be agreed separately with the supervisor.
