Dorota Rutkowska-Zbik

Dorota Rutkowska-Zbik is currently employed as the Associate Professor at the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (Krakow, Poland) where she leads “Heterogeneous catalysis: theory and experiment” group. She obtained MSc degree from the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland) in 2000 and PhD in physical and theoretical chemistry from the Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (Krakow, Poland) in 2005. After graduation, she held a visiting post-doctoral fellow position at the Theoretical Chemistry Department at the Lund University (Lund, Sweden).

Her scientific interests cover computational chemistry for catalysis and bio-inorganic chemistry, in particular elucidation of reaction mechanisms and kinetic studies. Her research is focused on (i) activation of small molecules (O2, CO2, CH4); (ii) selective oxidation of light alkanes; (iii) valorization of biomass-derived products (furfural, glycerol). She is interested in transition metal - based systems: complexes, nanoclusters, and recently, metal-loaded zeolitic materials.
