Prof. Hailei Zhao works at University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), China. She received her Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from USTB in March 1993. She was a postdoctoral associate (STA Fellow) in Okayama Ceramic Centre of Japan during Dec. 1999 - Dec. 2001. As visiting scholar, she worked in Georgia Institute of Technology, Boston University and Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2015, 2004 and 2003, respectively. She is a panel member of Solid State Ionic Society of Chinese Ceramic Society, and vice-director of Beijing Ceramic Society, China. She is the recipient of Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University (2007), China. She is a co-holder of 62 Chinese patents and has authored more than 220 peer reviewed publications (SCI-indexed).
Professor Zhao’s primary interests lie in fundamental understanding of the effect of lattice structure, chemical defects, electronic structure and microstructure on transport and electrical properties of mixed electronic and ionic conductors and solid electrolytes. In particular, She is interested in developing new materials for energy storage and conversion, e.g. solid oxide fuel cells, lithium (sodium) ion batteries, liquid metal batteries, chemical sensors and gas separation. In addition, she is interested in aerogel materials for thermal insulator and catalyst carriers.
