Justin Hargreaves

Justin Hargreaves is Professor of Catalytic Materials Chemistry as well as Head of the School of Chemistry at the University of Glasgow, UK.   He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief for the journal Applied Catalysis A: General and is also Editor-in-Chief for the RSC Catalysis Book Series.  At present, he is Treasurer of the International Association of Catalysis Societies.
His research interests centre around N2 activation, the application of large-scale wastes as resources for the production of catalytic materials, the catalytic activation alkanes, zeolite catalysis and water treatment.
He undertook his PhD, which was awarded in 1990, at the University of Liverpool under the supervision of Professors Richard Joyner and Graham Hutchings CBE, FRS, FREng before undertaking a postdoctoral period at ETH Zurich working in the group of Professor Dr Roel Prins.   Following this, he retuned to his former supervisors at Liverpool for a further postdoctoral position before being appointed a Senior Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University (where he conducted his first independent research programmes) and then on to the staff in the School of Chemistry at Glasgow.
