INTENTION TO SUBMIT: When you intend to submit thesis, register your intention to submit your complete thesis via Webropol-survey. The registration is important since you can register to the Oral Presentation at the same time. That way we will get an idea of how many students intend to submit their thesis at a specific deadline so that we can organize relevant processes. LES (Learning Services) also needs time to check your Personal Study Plan (HOPS) before you apply for graduation.

ORAL PRESENTATION: The presentation is a mandatory part of the thesis process, and it must be done before submitting the complete Thesis. You can conduct the presentation by participating to the public presentation event (Oral Presentation) or on a more informal setting with your supervisor. In the Oral Presentation you will have the opportunity to gain valuable feedback which you can work with before the final submission deadline. The presentation times in the table above are for the Oral Presentation. Contact you supervisor in time if you intend to conduct the presentation on a more informal setting.

SUBMITTING THESIS FOR EXAMINATION (permission to publish): The supervisor gives permission for examination when they have familiarized themselves with the work and knows that the thesis meets the requirements given and that the oral presentation is done. If the supervisor does not give permission for examination, the student must make the necessary changes before submitting the work for examination. Permission for examination can also be given conditionally, i.e. after making the necessary changes, the student can submit the completed work. If the changes have not been made to the completed Thesis, it may affect the grading or the examination process may be delayed.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Please check the deadlines to submit your completed thesis. Please note that for supplemental returning days, general vacation times needs to be taken into account. For supplementary return dates, supervision and guidance may not be available and you will be expected to work independently until the return date.

The thesis is submitted in My Studies (please see "Submitting the thesis for evaluation and electronical archiving" above).

If you have completed the studies required for your degree and your personal study plan (HOPS) has been updated and is in accepted status in SISU, you can apply for graduation (see instructions and schedule on the "Graduation" tab). The deadline for returning the thesis is then also your graduation date. If you still have studies to complete, please remember to apply for graduation when you have completed 120 credits, you can submit a graduation application several times during the year (see instructions on the "Graduation" tab).

Degree certificates are generally issued no earlier than four weeks after the graduation date. Note! Certificates are not prepared in July. The process of preparing degree certificates begins in August, priority is given to those who submitted their graduation request in June.

GRADE DECISION: The examiners of your thesis will read and check your work. They give an examination statement and a grade proposal to the Degree Programme committee. The Degree Programme committee discusses the grade proposals and confirms the grades based on the examinors' proposals. The confirmed grade and the examination statement are sent to the student by e-mail.
