Bachelor's Programme in Design
All old programmes and majors were organized in a new way by combining and dividing old programmes and majors into new reasonable size programmes. All old programmes and majors continued either as programmes or majors in new programmes.
By decision of the president on 31 May 2021, the old Bachelor’s Programme in Arts, Design and Architecture as well as twelve master's degree programmes was discontinued as of 31 July 2022. New programmes and majors started from 1 August 2022.
There is a transitional period for the students who are studying in old programmes.
CONTINUING STUDIES ACCORDING TO THE OLD DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
For the students renewal means that they had plenty of time to graduate from their old programmes during the transitional period after the new programmes started on 1.8.2022. Studies can be completed by transitions and course substitutions.
However, students have the right to transfer and complete their degree in a new programme according to the transition path for it before the end of the transitional period (see below).
The course substitution table shows what studies student must complete if:
- studying in accordance with the old degree requirements
- studying in accordance with the new program degree requirements
TRANSFERRING TO THE NEW PROGRAMMES
The transfer to the new programmes applies to students who began their studies before 1 August 2022.
When will the transfer to the new programmes take place?
- Transfer to the new programmes could be applied already spring 2022. Transfer can also be applied later during transitional period.
- Transferring to a new programme is not recommended if a student is studying according to the old degree requirements and degree structure and will graduate during the 2022–23 academic year.
- Students (studying with old degree requirements) who have not completed a degree by the end of transitional period will be transferred without separate application to study towards completion of their degree in accordance with the new degree requirements.
TRANSFERRING OF THE STUDY RIGHT TO NEW MAJOR AND STUDY PROGRAMME
Transfer can be applied with form below. Once an application has been processed, a change in study right will be applied directly on to the information system Sisu. No other notice will be sent but study right transfer can be checked on Sisu.
by email: [email protected] or
by mail to address: Aalto University, Registry, P.O. Box 11000, 00076 AALTO.
TRANSITION PATHS FROM THE OLD TO THE NEW PROGRAMMES AND MAJORS
Studying and completing studies when transferring to new programmes
- Students who transfer to a new programme in the middle of their studies must have the possibility to utilise their previously completed degree studies and modules as smoothly as possible.
- Students must try to apply all of their completed studies towards the new degree.
- Students who are transferring to a new programme will not be required to complete extra studies during the transitional period just for the sake of the transfer.
- The scope of required studies may differ as long as the learning outcomes of the degree and of the study modules are fulfilled.
Students who have neither completed a degree nor applied to transfer to a new programme by the end of the transitional period will be transferred without separate application to study towards completion of their degree in accordance with the new degree requirements.
