Information on the use of software in commercial projects

Aalto University has an EDU license for this software. It authorizes the use of the software only for educational and study purposes and the products created with it may not be transferred to a third party.
The Software may not be Used to generate any work product that will be used in any Commercial manner.
The Software may be Used only for purposes directly related to learning the Software, teaching the Software, and training others to Use the Software.
The use of the free-, trial-, educational-, student- and developer-version of Karamba3D is strictly for personal and/or, non-commercial purposes only. The use of the pro-version is for commercial purposes.

Course cooperation with the company
The company can see the outputs of the students. If a company wants to use licensed files for production, that plan must be redone from scratch under the company’s license.
Master's theses done with a company
The company can see the outputs of the students. If a company wants to use the files created under the license for purposes other than evaluating output, that plan must be redone from scratch under the company's license.
Competition
If part of Aalto's studies, or a competition aimed specifically at students, can participate with an EDU license.
Portfolio
If the material is part of the studies (has produced study attatiments), the use is allowed when the mention of eg "Coursework made in Aalto University". When the course is made in co-operation with a partner, check the course agreement or with responsible tecaher, to see how credit is agreed to be mentioned.
Aalto Education License: Only for teaching purposes, not directly or indirectly for research, commercial, professional or other profit-making purposes.
Personal Education License: Only for personal learning purposes, not directly or indirectly for research, commercial, professional or other profit-making purposes.
Use of the software for commercial purposes is prohibited, even by employees of the institution, except in connection with research contracts with the institution.
The EDU version of Rhino may be used commercially.

Other use classified as commercial
Neither the Aalto machines nor the Rhinoceros software may be used for extra-curricular design work for a client or a jobber. For this purpose, a separate licence must be obtained (may be a personal EDU version for commercial use).
Competitions
Competitions can be entered with a Rhino EDU licence.
Portfolio
Use is allowed. In coursework, please mention e.g. ‘Coursework made in Aalto University’. In the case of a coursework done with a company, please check the course contract or with the responsible teacher how the coursework is named when publishing.
