All of our schools have an international Scientific and Artistic Advisory Board (SAB/SAAB) that meet regularly to support the development of our university, especially in the area of research. The support groups meet on the Aalto University campus in the second week of November (4.-8.11.2024).

In the review, the advisory board, together with each school and department, will consider how the department can achieve the next scientific and/or artistic level in their field and what kind of concrete actions are needed to achieve this. Each school and department refines this joint assignment with its own themes and questions and prepares in advance a self-assessment of selected themes for their own advisory board.

The advisory boards visit the campus in the second week of November, and each SAB/SAAB reports its findings and suggestions by school. A consolidated report of the results will be published in January 2025 and it will be available to staff and students. The recommendations of the report will be discussed in schools between December 2024 and February 2025.

The advisory boards have met every two to three years, with the exception of the years when a comprehensive assessment of research, art and impact RAI (2018) is held. Previous SAB/SAAB visits have taken place in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2021.

More information on the SAB/SAAB process is available from the schools' development managers and head of planning Marja Niemi ([email protected]).
