Alexander Frey, Associate Professor
'I lead the molecular biotechnology research group at the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems.
Before Aalto, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich. The opportunity to develop professionally and the support given by the University contributed to my decision to come to Aalto University. The high standard of living in Finland was also an important factor.
Whether we are talking about teaching or research planning, obtaining projects or writing publications, the essential thing in my daily work is to inspire others and to make the general public interested in our work and our field of research. There is always something new to learn and the tasks are very versatile, which makes my job especially interesting. I can be a teacher, a mentor, a researcher and a manager, all at the same time.'
