Equality, diversity and inclusion at Aalto

QueerA! Network

QueerA! is a network for queer / LGBTQIA+ staff members from Aalto University across all schools and services. Currently, we plan to organize regular events, where people can network with people outside their daily surroundings at Aalto to share experiences and offer support, if needed. Advertisements for these events can be found below.

QueerA! had its first meetings in autumn 2023 and is still in the process of formation. During the first year we have been discussing topics and the purpose of the network, and covered topics such as:

  • Gathering people together to meet each other and to share experiences, and ensuring everyone can find a network for themselves.
  • Raising awareness within Aalto community and making support structures already in place visible and easily accessible and taking concrete actions and starting some activity, that may then grow and gather more people.
  • Enabling open discussions about the needs, challenges, and opportunities within the queer community and making challenges visible.

The group will meet every month on second Wednesday, every other month at 16.00 and every other month at 14.00. Our meetings will include both informal networking and sozialiding, and working together to identify topics, projects, events, or initiatives that the community can undertake. Additionally, we are setting up working groups who work independently.

If you are interested in joining the network, please join our teams channel (link below).

Our main language is English, but you are free to use any other languages as well if you wish.
